One school, one book:
One School, One Book is an all school activity. First launched at Newton South, North adopted this concept in 2011. Over the summer, the whole school (faculty, staff, and students) are expected to read a common book. Each year a different department spearheads the book selection and activities. In the past these books have included: Zeitoun (2011 - English), The Hunger Games (2012 - Physical Education, Health, and Wellness), and Outcasts United (2013 - History). In the early fall, the school then shares in activities related to the book. These activity formats have varied over the years including panel discussions, all school games, and in class assignments.

Oskar Schell is a nine year old boy with Asperger’s living in New York City with his parents. The key has a small tag, with a single word on it, and Oskar embarks on a mission to discover what the key is for - thinking that it is a message from his father.
